Sissi & Luigi is a street theatre show inspired by the assassination of Elisabeth empress of Austria by the young Italian anarchist Luigi Lucheni in 1898 on the banks of the lake in Geneva.

The ampersand in the logo connects both names -actually embracing or holding them- but also carries the murder weapon: a sharpened file that was driven into Sissi’s chest, right into her pericardum. Leaving no more than a tiny drop of blood, yet killing her.

To emphasize the gossipy tone of the show I chose a font that would look good on ‘one of those’ magasines, but styled it with the proper ligatures to honor Sissi’s class.
