The third year I designed their annual report, the Zaans Museum went through an intense period of reflection and analysis to come to define the future direction and shape of the museum.

I visualised this process in an upward swirl of parallel lines, a graphic interpretation of smoke if you like, symbolising the different choices with different outcomes. The color base is the museums corporate blue, with strong and vibrant influences from red and yellow, pulling the blue towards fresh greens and purples.


This year the distribution of this publication is strictly digital, with its own user experience. I rotated the layout from double portrait spreads to landscape singles and made sure the pages feel like a continuation of the previous years’ printed reports.
